Chester: 15th to 19th June 2022
Following the announcement that the Northwest of England has been chosen as a track 1 site for Carbon Capture and Storage and will be the first low carbon industrial cluster in the UK, we are announcing the first Green Expo for the North West – to be held in Chester in June next year. We would like to invite your organisation to become a Sponsor – with the added options of Exhibitor or Participant.
The Green Expo will have several parts:
The Green Expo Welcome & Awards Dinner at Eaton Hall, courtesy of His Grace, Hugh Grosvenor, 7th Duke of Westminster on Wednesday 15th June at 7.30pm, where awards will be presented for exceptional local achievements on the road to Net Zero.
The Green Expo Conference and Inward Investment Seminar on Thursday 16th June. This will provide a platform for Cheshire West & Chester, Cheshire East and Warrington councils to explain their net zero plans to the public and will include “TED talk” type presentations on relevant net zero projects already happening in the NW (e.g. Bio-methane from Grosvenor Farms. It will also be where the Cheshire and Warrington LEP will launch their Industrial decarbonisation cluster plan investment case (North West & Wales) as part of the UK’s first Net Zero industrial zone. The conference is anticipated to be very popular – with the opportunity to join the investment seminar remotely as well as in person.
The Green Expo: A four-day (16th to 19th June) exposition on the North Bank of the River Dee where businesses can explain and market their plans, products and services towards net zero. It will provide a learning point for schools, colleges and the general public. Thursday and Friday will be trade & education only – with the weekend open to the general public. In this first year the Expo will be limited to circa 50 exhibitor slots.
Finally, we are also working with Chester Zoo on the potential for a youth conference on Friday 17th June on the biodiversity crisis and what can be done about it
We already have ‘Green Shoot’ funding (from Cheshire & Warrington LEP, Cheshire West and Chester Council and Chester BID) and are now looking for Headline Sponsors, Green Sponsors in exclusive categories, and specific investors to sponsor awards. As the organisation behind the event is a not for profit community interest company, any surplus will go into restoring and creating the Hydro-Hub (see our website) and building a stronger event for the following years.
We are enormously encouraged and excited by the recently announced UKGOV choice of Hynet as one of the UK’s first two Hydrogen projects and the NW of England as one of two Net Zero pilot regions. This, along-with the strong support already evident from the local Council & LEP, University, Zoo, businesses, community and politicians both local and national gives us confidence that this will be a great event showcasing and explaining the significant number of green initiatives and investments in and around Cheshire.
More information will appear on this site. For more detail on our plans and sponsorship packages, with which I hope you will become involved, please contact Jane Harrard-Roberts online or in person (07785 395705) for more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
